Liege Belgium

tablet treasure hunt "The corpse at the church door"

Liège has a rich past and this past can still be found in many places, you just have to know where to find it! In addition to the many Prince Bishops and the many leaders from so many uprisings, there is one Liège resident whose traces can be found throughout the center. The writer Georges Simenon. However, his creation Arnold Maigret will be better known to many, the stubborn Parisian Commissioner who is central to more than 100 books and, in many countries, the TV series of the same name. In 1931 Simenon wrote a book focusing on Liège, “The corpse at the church door”. In this book he tells how Maigret solves a “self” murder, a case that Simenon himself once described in an article in the newspaper La Gazette. The main character is a friend of Simenon, who was found on March 2, 1922, with a noose around his neck at the church door of Saint Pholien. Follow in Simenon's footsteps, wander through the historic center and the colorful Outre Meusse district and solve the “self” murder.
