In 1772 the face of the city changed drastically, a major fire destroyed a large part of the Geulstadje. The ruins of the city are then largely demolished in order to rebuild the city. The fire appears to have been started by the "Bokkenrijders", who wanted to free their complicates from prison. The "Bokkenrijders", who were they and was the hunt against them justified?
